For over 40 years, Dakine has been a trusted brand for backpacks, travel gear, clothing, and accessories for those who find themselves at home in our planet’s outdoor spaces. Founded in 1979, the brand was birthed on the shores of Maui when Rob Kaplan merged his love of surfing with his ingenuity as a problem solver to make better surf leashes for those in the local surfing community.
Since then, Dakine has expanded to providing premium products for windsurfers, cyclists, skiers, snowboarders, and other explorers who can’t afford to compromise their exploits with mediocrity and excuses. Today the brand is not just fueled by a commitment to outdoor thrill-seekers of every stripe, but also by a dedication to the planet and a respect for its resources.
